When Doris and Don Fisher opened the first Gap store on Ocean Avenue in San Francisco in 1969, they did so with a simple promise: to do more than sell clothes.
Every day, we strive to bring this promise to life through the way we run our business and the actions our employees take in their communities. From volunteering with young people to supporting the arts, to helping fund education programs, Doris and Don made doing more a central part of their lives and their work. Their actions have inspired us to think bigger, act bolder and have a positive impact on the people whose lives we touch around the world.
Over the last 45 years, we’ve grown from a single store to a global business with five iconic brands – Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy, Athleta and Intermix - but one thing has stayed the same: our commitment to living the values that Doris and Don instilled in us.
How do we do more?
...in investing and supporting the communities where we live and work.
...that creating opportunity changes lives and communities.
...in making sustainable choices that can help protect our world.
...in doing more than selling clothes.
